Hi, this is Dr. Andrea Palmer. Welcome to the FĒNOM Women’s Care Podcast. Today, I’m talking with Dr. Catherine Bevan about a topic, dear and near to both of our hearts. It’s postpartum depression. So we’re going to talk about what that means, and the things that we can do to treat it.
“Obviously when you’re pregnant, you have not yourself to think about, but also the baby. There’s a lot of common myths out there about depression, medicine, medications, and pregnancy. I think there is a lot of hesitation for women to treat depression in pregnancy mostly because they don’t feel like it can affect the baby. But, I always point out that there are, there’s a load of data actually out there and we actually have good studies published, saying that treating depression with any of the medications that we use is safer for mom and baby than leaving depression and anxiety untreated.”
